NAB 2019 Review

Written by

We’re all back and recovered from NAB!

Although overall NAB registrations were down by 1.6% to 91,460. We really bucked this downward trend and our contacts are up year on year by 17.5% of which 48% were all new contacts. For any exhibitor these are a cracking set of figures, despite an epic hike to the back of the south hall.

Whilst Postflux was the star of our show and several major customer evaluations being kicked off this month, we had increased product interest across the board, with some significant enterprise integration enquiries. One thing is clear, cloud deployments are much further forward in the US, from our perspective the projects are thoughtful, nuanced and hybrid, not just cloud for cloud's sake.

Finally, I’d really like thank those that visited us at NAB, and we appreciate your time is valuable. Please don’t hesitate to contact us, if you have further questions regarding our new products and initiatives which are listed below.

Updates at NAB Show 2019:

Postflux for Premiere Pro is a new, cutting-edge platform which improves the archiving, versioning, integrity, security, performance and sharing of Adobe® Premiere® Pro projects in extended workflows. It addresses a fundamental issue of being able to reliably and easily share projects. It thereby mitigates risk, improves productivity, and efficiency whilst enabling new extended workflows. Postflux for Adobe Premiere Pro has been shortlisted in the produce category in the IABM BaM Awards ® 2019.

Integration discovery services, during the past 12 months alone, Marquis has delivered business critical systems for some of the largest media brands worldwide. Leveraging our large integration library containing many contemporary systems but also old and obsolete systems, in many cases no longer supported by original manufacturers. Marquis are now providing integration discovery services; identifying risk, evaluating, testing and documenting key integrations in our laboratory, thus enabling clients to mitigate risk upstream of major projects and or tendering processes.

Nearline Parking uses advanced analytics to enable seamless integration between Avid ISIS / NEXIS and Avid NEXIS | E5 NL production storage, ensuring all projects moved to E5 NL are always complete and self-contained with no need for a second system director.

Avid Interplay Metadata Export Tool ideal for users of large Interplay systems, it offers a straightforward way to externally host Interplay metadata. This has several benefits; the performance of Interplay and speed of indexing significantly improves as the number of interplay objects is reduced, and the externalised Interplay metadata is searchable and browsable by production staff.

Medway Avid Interplay cloud re-linking, Medway is the only middleware that can successfully read and write at sequence level into and out of Avid Interplay and NEXIS. With the Medway Engine Web Service (MEWS) hosted in AWS, we now offer cloud ingest, indexing, partial file retrieval, transcode, re-wrap and sequence level Interplay check-in.

New Interplay search function in Edit Bridge, Edit bridge is the easiest and most cost-effective mechanism to add Adobe Premiere and After Effects to Avid Interplay. It is ideal for marketing, promotion and web production teams who want to access media held in Interplay from Adobe production tools.

Workspace Backup is the most powerful and complete disaster recovery solution for Avid NEXIS. Using very clever analytics, it also provides the fastest recovery to production, from both conventional and cloud storage. Workspace Backup is now Avid Platform Certified.
