Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects are widely used by promo departments; Edit Bridge from Marquis Broadcast offers the best Enterprise integration for these systems when source content is in Avid PAM (Production Asset Management) systems such as Interplay and or MediaCentral.
Edit Bridge has been updated to support connection to multiple Avid PAM systems. There’s also a new search panel, which gives users the freedom to build flexible searches across the Avid PAM databases. The search panel operates in addition to the current browse panel, providing users with greater flexibility in how they access Avid assets. Edit Bridge is ideal for large broadcasters, enabling users to access a choice of PAM system. This is especially important when a promo department is creating promos for multiple production genres, spread across one or more Avid PAM systems. Given appropriate security permissions, promo editors can directly access Avid shared NEXIS projects to accelerate promo production.
Edit Bridge is ‘content secure’, since it requires the user to log in using an Interplay account in order that the information displayed is based upon that user’s permissions. The new panel allows the user to also browse to multiple Avid PAM folders and search through the contents of that folder and its sub-folders, looking for Avid master clips, sub clips or sequences.
The searched fields are configurable so that the panel can be adapted. Multiple search criteria can be linked together to enable more complex searches. Plus, all searches can be specified over a variety of time periods, based on the modification date of the assets.
The results of the search are displayed together with the basic metadata and thumbnails. From there, the user can access these assets and bring them directly in to Premiere Pro or After Effects. Content in the supported codecs are loaded into Premiere Pro for immediate ‘in-place’ editing from the Avid storage. Other content will be copied and re-wrapped before importing. Content imported into After Effects will always be re-wrapped during the import process.
Finally, Premiere Pro users can deliver and ‘Check In’ the completed story back to Avid using the Edit Bridge Publish panel. The end result is a fast and seamless Edit Bridge workflows between Avid and Adobe production systems.
