Workspace Backup chosen as ‘no-nonsense’ Avid backup solution
Academy Award-winning production company, Zentropa in Denmark is one of the leading post-production companies in Europe, winning the most prestigious awards on the international film scene and producing over 200 films to date. The company has recently invested in Workspace Backup from Marquis Broadcast, to take backups of Avid work-in-progress as part of its disaster recovery plan. Although feature film work for both the national and international markets are its main focus, Zentropa also produces TV documentaries and series, along with music videos, so needed a simple automated backup system that could provide a daily backup of all projects and media files.
Middleware solution accelerates workflow and business transformation for the broadcaster’s Historic Archive
Spanish broadcaster, RTVE, has updated its ‘Historic Archive’ production system with Medway – a powerful and scalable media-centric middleware from Marquis Broadcast. Medway links RTVE’s edit platforms, asset management and video servers together with its historical archive systems. It helps connect multiple sites in different regions, to allow one site’s archive to be used from another site, all controlled via media asset management.
Marquis Broadcast’s disaster recovery tool protects against catastrophic data loss
With the rise in malicious crypto-locking ransomware attacks in recent years, companies need to make certain they run scheduled backups of their data, in order to keep both media project data and critical business operations safe. However, when infected by crypto-locking ransomware, the backups themselves can also become infected, which often renders the whole backup strategy useless. Luckily, Marquis Broadcast’s Workspace Backup system avoids this problem. It analyses and copies Avid workspaces and projects to tier 2 storage and the cloud and will never backup any media that has become encrypted, ensuring valuable media files remain intact.
